Prof. Justyna Olko
Justyna is Director of the Centre for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity at the University of Warsaw and the project co-ordinator. She leads on Work Package 1 project management.
Prof. Agnieszka Otwinowska-Kasztelanic
Agnieszka Otwinowska-Kasztelanic is an associate professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages, Institute of English Studies at the University of Warsaw. Her research revolves around cross-linguistic influences, vocabulary acquisition, adult and childhood multilingualism, foreign language teaching and CLIL. She co-leads on work package 3.
Dr. Katarzyna (Kasia) I. Wojtylak
Katarzyna (Kasia) I. Wojtylak is an Assistant Professor at University of Warsaw. She specializes in anthropological linguistics, linguistic typology, and language documentation, with a regional focus on the Northwest Amazon in South America. Her research interests include multilingualism and language contact, grammatical systems of Indigenous languages, and the interface between linguistic diversity and cultural practices. Kasia helps to co-ordinate the project.
Dr. Joanna Dolińska
Joanna Dolińska is an Assistant Professor specializing in computational linguistics and big data analysis. Her main fields of research and academic interests include computational linguistics, language documentation, sociolinguistics and historical linguistics, with a focus on low-resource languages. Joanna helps to co-ordinate the project.
Blanca Trull
Graduated in Sociology and Political Science, and later earned a Master’s in Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development from the University of Valencia. She is a content creator with a critical, socially engaged approach, focusing on sociopolitical and sociolinguistic issues—especially those related to the Catalan language. Currently manages the social media accounts of ELEN and Fosterlang.
Prof. Tomasz Wicherkiewicz
Tomasz Wicherkiewicz is a linguist specializing in sociolinguistics, language policy and planning, and minority language studies, with a particular focus on minority, regional, and endangered languages and their communities. Tomasz leads on Work Package 7 – Effective Multilingualism Policies
Dr. Anna Szczepaniak-Kozak
Anna Szczepaniak-Kozak is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, where she teaches research methods in applied linguistics and academic English. In 2019, she received her habilitation in linguistics on the basis of her research in interlanguage pragmatics. Her PhD thesis focused on the discourse analysis of ESP texts.
Dr. Emilia Wąsikiewicz-Firlej
Emilia Wąsikiewicz-Firlej (MA in English, PhD in Applied Linguistics, DLitt in Linguistics) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. Her research interests include ecolinguistics, professional and intercultural communication, and, more recently, multilingualism and family language policy.
Dr. Michael Hornsby
Michael Hornsby is an Associate Professor and head of unit at the Centre for Celtic Studies, Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, where he teaches a variety of modules on Celtic and other minority languages and research methods in Critical Sociolinguistics.
Dr. Caroline Rowland
Caroline Rowland is a Director at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen and Professor of First Language Acquisition at Radboud University. Her research focuses on how children learn to communicate with language, how the developing brain supports this process, and how it is affected by cross-linguistic, cultural and individual variation.
Paul Trilsbeek
Paul Trilsbeek is the head of The Language Archive at the MPI for Psycholinguistics. Paul co-leads Work Package 5 on Counteracting digital exclusion: IT tools and resources for lesser-used languages.”.
Dr. Arvind Kumar
Dr. Arvind Kumar has recently joined the Language Development Department at the Max Planck Institute as a Postdoctoral Researcher. At MPI, he is a part of the Fosterlang project, where his role is to evaluate and improve Automatic Speech Models using transcribed recordings from a selection of lesser-resourced languages in the language archives.
Monica Perenya
Monica began her professional career as a secondary school teacher and later joined the Government of Catalonia, where she participated in the design and development of Catalonia’s language policy, in the renewal of the language model of the education system and in the implementation of international programmes. Monica leads on Work Package 6 – Global Challenges in Diversity Management, Empowerment and Networking.
Dr. Josep Cru
Josep Cru is a lecturer and researcher at the School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University. His research focuses on grassroots Indigenous language revitalisation efforts in Latin America, particularly in Mexico. His PhD thesis (2014) explored linguistic ideologies and revitalisation processes in the Yucatán Peninsula. Josep Cru has been a member of Linguapax since 2001.
Dr. Maite Melero
Maite Melero leads the Machine Translation research group in the Language Technologies Unit at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). Her primary research interests include unsupervised methods for machine translation and the detection and mitigation of bias in translation models.
Dr. Ibon Manterola
Dr. Ibon Manterola is Associate Professor at the Linguistics and Basque Studies department of the University of the Basque Country. He is a member of the Unesco Chair on World Language Heritage, as well as a member of the ELEBILAB research team. Ibon leads on Work Package 4 – Linguistic Capital and Socio-Economic Sustainability.
Dr. Jone Goirigolzarri-Garaizar
Jone Goirigolzarri-Garaizar is a lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto (Bilbao) and a member of the Deusto Social Values Research Team. Her research primarily focuses on the revitalization of the Basque language. Her areas of interest include language policies, language attitudes and language ideologies, particularly concerning new speakers and the younger generation.
Iker Erdocia
Iker Erdocia is Assistant Professor, Director of Research in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS) and Research Integrity Advocate in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dublin City University. He co-leads Work Package 5 on Counteracting digital exclusion: IT tools and resources for lesser used languages.
Dr. Federico Gaspari
Dr. Federico Gaspari has a background in translation studies and applied linguistics and holds a PhD in machine translation. He is a visiting research fellow at the ADAPT Centre in Dublin City University (DCU), and since 2010 he has worked on a dozen EU-funded projects devoted to language and translation technologies and multilingualism.
Catalina Amengual Ripoll
Catalina Amengual Ripoll is a PhD student at Dublin City University. She studied the master Management of Cultural Diversity at Tilburg University. She did her degree in Catalan Language and Literature at the Universitat de les Illes Balears, where she also studied a postgraduate degree to become a University Expert in Linguistic Dynamization.
Prof. Haley de Korne
Haley De Korne is Professor of Multilingualism at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies and a member of the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan at the University of Oslo. She co-leads on Work Package 7, Effective policies for multilingualism, and on WP3.
Prof. Åshild Næss
Åshild Næss is Professor of Linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies at the University of Oslo. Her research work centers around the documentation and description of two minority languages in the eastern Solomon Islands, Äiwoo and Vaeakau-Taumako.
Dr. Nuranindia Endah Arum
Nuranindia Endah Arum is a researcher at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies and a member of the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan (MultiLing), University of Oslo. She completed her PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Oslo in 2024 with a dissertation focusing on the intersection of language learning, migration, and professional trajectories of highly educated Indonesian migrants in Norway.
Dr. Gòrdan Cameron
Gòrdan is a post-doctoral researcher at the Language Sciences Institute UHI. He has over 25 years of experience in various spheres within Gaelic development, including development and delivery of educational materials; heritage and cultural management; media commentary; academia (including post-graduate tutoring). He co-leads on WP 2.
Prof. Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones
Elin is the Director of the Centre for Welsh and Advanced Celtic Studies (CAWCS) at the University of Wales and ELEN President. Elin leads on Work Package 3.
Dr. Daniel Wutti
Daniel teaches at the Carinthia University of Education, studied media and communication sciences, psychology, and psychotherapy. He has a doctorate in social psychology on the interfaces between identity, trauma, and memory culture. He co-leads on WP3.
Dr. Karin Sonnleitner
Dr. Karin Sonnleitner, holds doctorates in education and law. She has worked at the University of Graz in several national and international research projects. She has experience with various qualitative and quantitative research methods and has been working at the Institute for School Development and Leadership at the University Teacher Education Carinthia since March 2024.
Ana Smrtnik-Einspieler
After completing her bachelor’s degree in Teacher Education with the subjects Slovene and German at the University of Klagenfurt (2021), she is currently continuing her master’s studies in the same subjects and is additionally pursuing a degree in Slavic Studies with a focus on Slovene. In her academic training, she has dealt extensively with bilingualism, multilingualism, identity, and language policy in Carinthia, with cultures of remembrance, with the acquisition and teaching of Slovene, as well as with Slovene dialects in Carinthia.
Esma Murić
She is currently in the final year of her Bachelor’s degree in Primary Teacher Education with a focus on Multilingualism, which she is complementing with a team-teaching qualification that enables her to work within the minority school system in Carinthia. Her choice of studies and training reflect a strong interest in minority languages and linguistic diversity – an interest that has been significantly shaped by her bilingual upbringing.
Dr. Pamela Glušič
Pamela Glušič is a university professor at the University College of Teacher Education Carinthia. She holds degrees in Slovenian and German language teaching and earned her PhD in contemporary Austrian literature. At the University College of Teacher Education, she works in the field of bilingual education for primary and secondary levels. Her current research focuses mainly on minority education.
Yelizaveta Andakulova
Since September 2025, Yelizaveta Andakulova, MA, has been working as a Senior Scientist in the research team of the University of Teacher Education Carinthia within the EU project Fosterlang. In parallel, she is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Klagenfurt (Media and Communication Studies). In addition, she is a Research Associate at the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Artur Jabłoński
Dr. Artur Jabłoński is an activist, writer, and researcher of Kashubian language and identity. In 2017, he became the founding member of the private bilingual primary school “Naja Szkòla” in Wejherowo, Kashubia. He works at the Faculty “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw.
Anna Kościukiewicz-Jabłońska
Anna Kościukiewicz-Jabłońska is the director and editor-in-chief of Radio Kaszëbë, a radio station run by the Perspektiva Kaszëbskô association. Since 2017, she has co-created the “Naja Szkòła” project – the first bilingual school in Wejherowo, Kashubia.
Hanna Ellwart
Hanna Ellwart is the principal of the private, bilingual private school “Naja Szkòła” in Wejherowo. She teaches early childhood education, English, and Spanish.
Anna Maślana
Editor at LEM.fm radio, translator and author of Lemko-language publications. She works with organizations and research centers in Poland and abroad engaged in minority issues, contributing to projects related to the Lemko language and culture.
Natalia Małecka-Nowak
Lemko activist and cultural animator, involved with the Ruska Bursa Association in Gorlice since 2014, she has chaired its board since 2020. She co-creates Rusyn media, including the radio and news portal LEM.fm, contributes to Besida and NN InfoRusyn, and serves on the editorial board of the contextual dictionary of standardized Lemko language.
Prof. Helena Duć-Fajfer
Professor at the Jagiellonian University, literary and Lemko scholar, art historian, editor, and poet, head of the Department of Russian Literature. She founded the Rusyn-Lemko philology program in Kraków, represented the Lemko community in the Joint Commission of the Government and National and Ethnic Minorities (2005–2014), and serves on the Program Council of the Institute of Linguistic Diversity of the Republic of Poland.
Dr. Tymoteusz Król
Tymoteusz Król (in Wymysiöeryś – Tiöma fum Dökter) is an activist for Wymysiöeryś language revitalization and sociolinguist affiliated in Institute of Slavic Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences and Centre for Regional Studies of University of Ostrava. He helped to organize the conference in Wilamowice.
